Wednesday, Xi'an: Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Bell Tower at Night

Xi'an, China
Wednesday, July 11, 2018
It was raining pretty hard during the day so I took it easy.

I went to the Bank of China to change $500 because I've been carrying around too much cash. I still have about 300 USD that I'll keep in case my ATM cards fail. It took about 30 minutes to change it and the girl carefully examined my passport for about ten minutes.

I also went to China Unicom and got a SIM card so I can have Internet in the street, mainly for translating. Getting the SIM card was supposed to be complicated but it only took about 10 minutes and costs 100 CNY per month.

That night I took the metro a few
stops south to see the Wild Goose Pagoda. It was a really nice area with a bunch of fountains and thousands of people.

On the way back I got off at Zhon Glou to take some night pictures of the beautifully lit Bell Tower.

The Galaxy S9 camera continues to impress with really sharp low light photos.
