I got up at 06:00 and had breakfast at the lovely Denver Boutique Hotel. Aman Tours, which I had booked the day before, picked me up at 08:00. They sent two young guys, Joseph the guide, and Noah the driver. I was the only one on the tour so I got their full attention. Joseph gave me the history of Ethiopia and the area as we drove toward Debre Libanos through the hills above Addis Ababa.
The guides were both excellent and made every effort to make sure that I was happy and had a great tour. The scenery from the Portuguese Bridge of the Blue Nile Gorge was spectacular and we saw many, many gelada baboons and got some fantastic photos. The guides were as excited and enthusiastic as I was about everything. The tour was better than I expected.
At a hotel near the Portuguese Bridge, we had a delicious authentic Ethiopian Ingera meal as we sat outside and enjoyed the view of the Blue Nile Gorge. The restaurant guy kept bringing out more food so we got stuffed.
Back in Addis Ababa, I had them drop me off at a different hotel since the Denver Boutique Hotel was sold out for that night. I had booked the Addis Regency Hotel for one night.
