Had coffee in the center of Inverness and then caught the bus to Urquhart Castle which is on the banks of the Loch Ness near the village of Drumnadrochit. The bus stopped right at the castle to let the tourists off. The bus was a little expensive at 6.60 each way but I found that there are buses to and from Drumnadrochit for only 3.70 each way. Drumnadrochit is about a 30 minute walk from the castle and the walk is scenic and worth it.
The castle was mostly ruins but the tower was fairly intact and you could climb up to the top for good views. The entry fee was 9. As usual it had a big gift shop and a nice coffeeshop. Visiting the castle is a nice way to see Loch Ness as well.
