I left the hotel at about 09:00 and caught the bus on the corner to the train station. The trains to Amsterdam leave about every 20 minutes so it was easy to get one. The round trip ticket was a 'day ticket' so I could go and return on any train.
I got to Amsterdam and it was crowded with people especially around the train station. I met a friend at the station and we took off and followed a walking tour map on my phone. The canals were full of trash from the big party the night before for King's Day but they were still very scenic and photogenic and I took lots of photos of the bridges and boats.
We walked around all of the major tourist attractions such as the churches, Dam Square, the red light district, Chinatown, and many canals. We finished the walking tour by going to the MOCO Museum and then took the tram back to the Central Station by late afternoon to catch our return trains.
