I took the short train ride from Cologne to Dusseldorf to spend the day. Dusseldorf is located on the Rhine River and is the 7th largest city in Germany. It has a vibrant old town (Altstadt) and a robust eating and drinking environment.
It has some impressive buildings such as the Johanneskirche, a large Protestant church that opened in 1875 and the Neanderkirche another Protestant church from 1683. Also the Jan Wellem monument constructed in 1780 can be found in front of Düsseldorf's city hall. There is also a promenade on the bank of the Rhine River full of bars and restaurants with scenic views of the river and bridges.
