Sunday, Cave Temple in Dambulla, Biking Around Sigiriya

Sigiriya, Sri Lanka
Sunday, November 4, 2018
In the morning took the bus from Sigiriya to Dambulla and went to the famous Cave Temples, Map Location: 7.855904, 80.64678 .

The bus station, 7.870392, 80.651412, is a few kilometers from the temple entry so I took a tuk-tuk for 150 LKR.  It's off of the main road and down a dirt road.

The caves are at the top of a hill with steps up to the entrance.  There are four or five caves filled with murals and buddhas of all sizes.

It is possible to go down a different way to the Golden Temple which has a big outdoor Buddha and is on the main road.

Buses go back and forth between Dambulla and Sigiriya and Kandy every hour or so it's an connection.

Back in Sigiriya I rented a cheap bike and took a nice long ride out on the little dirt roads. I rode for about two hours around Lion's Peak and Pedurangula and returned on the bigger road that goes along the elephant fence on the boundary of Minneriya National Park.
