Sunday, Biked from Luang Prabang to Kuang Si Waterfall

Luang Prabang, Laos

Rented a mountain bike and rode the 30 kilometers to the majestic Kuang Si Waterfall. The ride is along the main road without much scenery. The road follows the Mekong River and there are other attractions along the way such an Elephant conservation center, a water buffalo dairy, and a farm-stay resort. There was quite a bit of tourist traffic in vans, taxi trucks, and motorbikes. I only saw one other tourist on a bike.

The trip took about two hours each way and really gave my legs a workout. There was only one major hill that was a little painful and the rest was just gentle slopes.

The waterfalls were fantastic and a nice blue color from the minerals in the water. Some people were swimming in the pools but it was pretty chilly and overcast.

On the way back I stopped at a restaurant with great views of the Mekong river and had some coconut water.
