I checked out of the Embassy Hotel at 10:00, left my bags there and went for a coffee and then lunch to kill time until the tour pick up at 12:30.
The tour company sent two girls to pick me up about 30 minutes late. We walked over to their office so I could pay the balance for my Amboseli National Park safari for 3 days and 2 nights. I was joining a tour in progress that would be passing through Nairobi from Nakuru to Amboseli.
The girls sent me with a driver to the other side of Nairobi to meet the tour van at a gas station. Everything went smoothly and I joined five other people in the van. There were two Spanish couples and one Canadian guy traveling solo.
The drive to Emali was hectic because of the crazy traffic with all of the truck on the Mombasa Road. The norm here is to pull out into oncoming traffic whenever you want to pass and then play chicken with the oncoming trucks.
The drive took the rest of the day and we got to the Kimana Tented Camp right after dark. I had to share a tent with the Canadian guy since the campsite was full. We had dinner at the restaurant and then sat around a fire until about 22:00.
