Friday, Brussels to Utrecht, Netherlands by Bus

Brussels, Belgium
Friday, April 26, 2019
In the morning I checked out of the hotel at about 10:00 and walked the kilometer and a half to the Brussels North train and bus station where the Flixbus terminal is.

Since it was a Friday and a holiday weekend in the Netherlands for King's Day the buses were full and there were lots of people waiting. It was an easy three hour ride to Utrecht with one stop in Antwerp. The buses are very comfortable and have bathrooms and WiFi that works a little.

In Utrecht the bus stops in the city center so it was a scenic 2 km walk to my hotel on the other side of the city. It's a small city but very lively and attractive with canals, a huge cathedral, and the large Dom Tower which is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. The tower was under construction so the top part was covered in scaffolding and not very attractive or photogenic.

I checked into the Hotel Oorsprongpark and then went out for awhile to see the city. Everyone was wearing orange and drinking heavily for King's Day which was the next day on Saturday.
