Up early and had a homemade cold coffee in the room since breakfast wasn't until 07:00. For breakfast, I had scrambled eggs, chicken sausage and more coffee. The dining room was full of people.

After breakfast, I walked over to the Red Mosque (Map Location: MMM) which was only about 20 minutes away. It is near the market area so there was a lot of activity. I also went to the New Kathiresan Kovil Hindu Temple (Map Location: mmm) and looked around.

I walked back through the Peetah Market and then over to get a better look at the Colombo Lotus Tower. Next I went to the train station and bought a ticket on the express train to Kandy for the next day, leaving at 10:35.

Outside of the train station I negotiated with a Tuk Tuk to take me to several temples that were farther out, the Seema Malaka Buddhist Temple and the Ashokaramaya Buddhist Temple. We covered both of those in about an hour and he dropped me off at the hotel. I went to KFC near the hotel for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, I negotiated a 600 per hour rate with another Tuk Tuk driver to take me to Independence Square, Gangaramaya Temple, and Galla Face Green. I should have included these on the first Tuk Tuk tour since they are in the same area. After the other stops, he dropped me off at Galla Face Green and I walked along the seaside promenade and then back to the hotel at dusk.

There were a lot of soldiers around. I'm not sure if that is normal or it is because of the current political problem where they have two guys who both think that they are the Prime Minister.

On the walk back I found a BK and had beef hamburgers for the first time in about a month. They were glorious.
