It was a rainy morning in Glasgow. I had the full Scottish breakfast at the hotel and then checked out before 10:00 and walked the 1 km to the bus station with my backpack and little rolly suitcase. I was a little early so I had a coffee in the bus station coffee shop.
The bus left right on time at 11:00. It was a big double-decker bus to London that was already half full of people from somewhere.
We went through a little mountain range and it snowed pretty hard for about an hour. There was a lot of snow and the ground and the hills were white. Once we got out of the mountains everything was back to normal.
My stop was the little town of Preston where I switched to a local bus to Liverpool. I had just enough time to go to the bathroom and then board the other bus. The local bus took forever because it stopped every few minutes all along the way.
In Liverpool my hotel was only a few blocks from the main bus station in the center of the city. I checked in, dropped my stuff off, and then went out for some food and took a long walk around the city.
Liverpool is rough around the edges but it has a lively downtown commercial area with big wide pedestrian streets and all of the normal restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. It also has a China Town which I haven't seen before in the UK.
