Took a cheap taxi to the entrance of the Karakol Gorge National Park and took a long hike, out and back. There is a small village in the National Park and herds of goats, horses, and cows along the way to make it interesting. The mountain views are also very nice.
I walked for four hours and then turned around and headed back. I talked for awhile to a British guy who was riding a mountain bike. He was retired, lives in San Francisco, and travels a lot.
I was about half way back when a taxi came along and talked me into going with him back to Karakol for a dollar or so. It didn't take much convincing to get me into the car.
