Had breakfast at the hotel. Very nice mainly because I was the only one in the dining room.
It was raining so thought it might be hard to get a tuk-tuk but no problemo. Got to the station super early. There was no security or even a ticket check to get to the platforms. The train station was really busy with trains coming and going every few minutes with people hustling on and off.
It was a slow, rough, stop and go train ride to Kandy. The last part was through the mountains with epic views of the forested slopes. It took about four hours to make the trip.
In Kandy, I took a tuk-tuk to the hotel which was quite a ways from the train station because of the one way road around the luck. It's only about a 15 minute walk to the center, mostly along the lake.
Walking along the lake I saw huge bats hanging in the tops of the trees and a couple of big pelicans sleeping on some wide branches.
