I took the short bus ride from the main square in Portree to the Old Man of Storr parking lot, Bus 57C. Then the group from the bus walked up the trail to the rock pinnacles. The easy part of the trail was about 1 km and then there were higher trails to go above the pinnacles which of course I did. Some of the people barely made it to the lower area because of the strong wind and the climb. It was cloudy and the tops of the pinnacles were barely below the clouds.
The wind was worse than ever up on the higher trails and blowing everyone around. It was difficult on tricky parts of the trail when the wind would blow you off course and cause you to lose balance. The views as always were fantastic especially from the very top looking down on the pinnacles and the entire valley below down to the ocean.
This is a must do hike for the Isle of Skye. It's included on some tours but the people only have a little time to walk up to the lower area which does not have good photo ops.
