My train from Bukhara to Tashkent was at the ungodly hour of 04:55. I had arranged for a taxi with the hotel the night before for 04:00. I woke up before the alarm and got up at 03:30 and got everything ready. The taxi got there a little early so the hotel guy came and got me.
There were quite a few people and taxis around at that time but we made it to the train station in about 10 minutes. The train to Tashkent only took about four hours.
In Tashkent, I took a gypsy taxi with an old guy who couldn't read the address or map on my phone. He said he knew the hotel and we took off. There was also a girl in the taxi and we had to take her to the airport first.
The old guy got me to the hotel with no problems even though there were three hotels with basically the same name. I got there way too early and the room wasn't ready yet. They let me have some coffee and then I went and tried to find an ATM that worked without success. ATMs and Credit Cards don't work very well in Uzbekistan.
The hotel was pretty centrally located and was about a 15 minute walk to a subway station.
